Note 1: Scope of data coverage: All plants of Edison Opto Taiwan entity and all plants of the consolidated subsidiary Edison - Litek Opto in Taipei.
Note 2: Data for all three years were self-compiled by the company. In 2023, due to the implementation of ISO14064-1 guidance and its designation as the baseline year, the data are more accurate than the previous year; for 2022, the “Direct Fugitive Emissions” under Scope 1 were not included in the calculation. Therefore, the unit product carbon emissions and carbon emission intensity for 2022 are not applicable.
Quantitative Greenhouse Gas Reduction Management Targets
- Greenhouse gas reduction quantitative management: Setting 2023 as the baseline year, the carbon dioxide emission intensity in 2025 will be reduced by 2% compared to 2023.
- Measures to achieve the target:
Greenhouse gas reduction: Implement power-saving measures from three main aspects—air conditioning systems, electric lighting, and other electricity use. Regularly review and replace energy-consuming equipment.
Water management: Internally implement water-saving measures. Faucets are equipped with sensor-based water outlets, and water output is adjusted downward to conserve water.
Implementation Status of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets
In response to the increasingly severe issue of global warming caused by climate change, the company has begun greenhouse gas monitoring and inventory since 2023. The actual emission results over the past two years are as follows:
Considering sustainable development planning, although the company’s capital stock has not yet reached NTD 2 billion, in 2023, ISO14064-1 guidance was carried out. Using a self-compiled approach, Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 (partially included in the self-inventory but not included in emission intensity calculations) were inventoried for all plants of Edison Opto Group in Taiwan. In the past two years, the main greenhouse gas emissions came primarily from Scope 2 (purchased electricity), accounting for more than 90%. Scope 1 emissions mainly came from mobile fuel sources. The inventory results are as follows:
.In 2023, the combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions totaled 1,661.4550 metric tons CO2e, with unit product carbon emissions of 1.2169 (metric tons CO2e / million NTD revenue).
.In 2024 (as of October), the combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions totaled 1,561.9603 metric tons CO2e, with unit product carbon emissions of 1.0640 (metric tons CO2e / million NTD revenue), representing a 12.56% reduction compared to the 2023 baseline year.- From 2021 to 2024, the company has annually commissioned “UD Technology Consulting Co., Ltd.” to conduct workplace environment monitoring of carbon dioxide and organic compounds for production lines and office environments, and issue workplace monitoring reports."
